How to use Acliz PLUS

How Acliz PLUS works
Acliz PLUS is a combination of two medicines: Meclizine and vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) which treat nausea and vomiting associated with pregnancy. Meclizine is an antihistamine which works by blocking the action of a chemical messenger (histamine), thereby controlling nausea, vomiting, and dizziness. Pyridoxine (vitamin B6) is a form of vitamin B which possesses anti-nausea properties.

  • Take it on an empty stomach with a glass of water.
  • Acliz PLUS may cause dizziness. Do not drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how it affects you.
  • Do not take Acliz PLUS with other sedating medications such as those for cough and cold as the combination could worsen dizziness leading to falls or other accidents.
  • Do not take Acliz PLUS while breastfeeding.
Brief Description
Indication
Nausea, vomiting, dizziness, motion sickness, radiation sickness and vertigo associated with diseases of vestibular motion sickness, radiation sickness and vertigo associated with diseases of vestibular system, morning sickness during pregnancy, drug induced nausea, vomiting induced by oral contraceptives or Estrogen preparations.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Adult Dose
Oral Motion sickness Adult: 25-50 mg Meclizine 1 hr before travelling and repeat 24 hrly if needed. Vertigo and vestibular disorders Adult: 25-100 mg Meclizine daily in divided doses. Discontinue if there is no response after 1-2 wk of treatment. Radiation sickness: 50 mg Meclizine administered 2-12 hours prior to radiation treatment. Pyridoxine (vitamin B6) has been shown to be safe and effective in dosages of 50 to 200 mg per day.

Contraindication
Meclizine Hydrochloride and Pyridoxine Hydrochloride is contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to these ingredients.
Mode of Action
Meclozine blocks vasopressor response to histamine and has a slight blocking action against acetylcholine. It decreases excitability of the middle ear labyrinth and blocks conduction in the middle ear vestibular-cerebellar pathways. Pyridoxine is a water-soluble vitamin which functions in the metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins and fats. It is essential in Hb formation and GABA synthesis within the CNS. It also aids in the release of glycogen stored in the liver and muscles.
