his powerful yet easy-to-program (only 35 single word instructions) CMOS FLASH-based 8-bit microcontroller packs Microchip's powerful PIC® architecture into a 28 pin package. The PIC16F883 features 256 bytes of EEPROM data memory, self programming, an ICD, 2 Comparators, 11 channels of 10-bit Analog-to-Digital (A/D) converter, 1 capture/compare/PWM and 1 Enhanced capture/compare/PWM functions, a synchronous serial port that can be configured as either 3-wire Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI™) or the 2-wire Inter-Integrated Circuit (I²C™) bus and an Enhanced Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter (EUSART). All of these features make it ideal for more advanced level A/D applications in automotive, industrial, appliances or consumer applications.
The PIC16F883 from Microchip Technology is a family of low-cost, high-performance, 8-bit, fully static, Flash-based CMOS microcontrollers. It employs a RISC architecture with only 35 single-word/single-cycle instructions. All instructions are single cycle except for program branches which take two cycles. The PIC16F883 delivers performance an order of magnitude higher than its competitors in the same price category. The easy-to-use and easy-to-remember instruction set reduces development time significantly.
The PIC16F883 products are equipped with special features that reduce system cost and power requirements. There are 5 oscillator configurations to choose from, including the high accuracy internal oscillator, power-saving LP (Low Power) oscillator and cost saving RC oscillator. Power saving Sleep mode, Watchdog Timer and code protection features improve system cost, power and reliability.
